Thank you so much to everyone who came to Simon’s leaving drinks last Friday. It was really well attended and great to see staff, coaches and members enjoying the club atmosphere. Simon has asked me to send a few words of thanks which are below:
“It was good on Friday evening to see the Club busy again with so many people playing tennis and enjoying meeting friends. Thanks to Norman for looking after the bar.
Many thanks to everyone for your contributions to our cellar, the voucher and the addition to our eating-out fund for when going to restaurants is a better experience. Thanks also for the flowers, cards and messages.
It’s been a wonderful 12 years working for you; the longest time I’ve spent in any job. I will miss greatly your smiles, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved – both members and staff.
I’m sure I will take advantage occasionally of the large beer garden at the club, as long as someone will sign me in as a guest. I wish you all the best for the future.” Simon – and Jill
New Club Administrator:
After a large number of applicants, we have now now completed our interview and appointment process. We had internal and external candidates which gave us a very strong field to choose from but are certain we have chosen the strongest applicant. Sarah Braden will start in her new role from 27th July, Sarah has a wealth of administration experience in her previous role and, as an active member of the club for some time, also has an invaluable in depth knowledge of how the club operates. We wish Sarah every success and look forward to her joining the team.
Our Squash courts will reopen for members on 25th July. There are a number of measures that we will be putting in place to ensure the safe operation of the club and there are stipulations set out by the government on how squash can be played. The full copy of the guidance is here to read:
We recommend all members fully familiarise themselves with this guidance and we will be sending out further communication to Squash members over the next week on how this guidance will be applied specifically to Sundridge Park.
Squash courts will be avaiable to book from Monday 20th July onwards.
Squash Court 4 Improvements:
As previously mentioned Squash court 4 has been revamped over the closure period and we have installeda new accoustic ceiling to reduce the echo, new LED lighting, a new glass door and a full redecoration of the entrance area. The court looks fantastic and we hope you enjoy the upgrade to the facilities.
Children using courts unsupervised:
It has been great to see juniors coming up and using the courts unsupervised over this period where they have not been at school and we hope it is helping them keep active. Just a quick guide to tennis etiquette which juniors need to be made aware of please by parents so everyone can play happily alongside each other:
1. Enter and exit the court via the closest entrance to your court to avoid walking behind other players.
2. If balls stray onto another court that people are playing on, just leave them and wait for those players to return them rather than walking across during their game.
3. If you do need to walk behing a court people are playing on wait until there is a pause in their game before doing so.
Thank you for bringing the above to the attention of your children.
